We understand that December can be a hectic time for any business or household. We would like to just give you an update of the last couple of months and some insight into what is to come in the near future.

Most of you probably receive several newsletters each day but the aim of this one is to keep you, our valued customer, up to date with everything we’re planning and to share some of the latest news happening across our industry.

 

Client portal:

Our website is getting a much-needed facelift. Visitors can expect a fresh look with some awesome new features. One of these new features is that as a user you can log in to the portal and can manage their account. Below are some of the new features:

  • Debit order setup
  • Card payments
  • Speed-tests
  • Bill payments
  • Monitor usage
  • Log support tickets
  • Top up capped packages

 

Downtime dilemmas:

By now, we all know that our embattled power utility is having some trouble keeping the lights on but this isn’t the only downtime we’ve been experiencing lately. In recent months we’ve had Eskom cables stolen four times (three of these incidents occurring in Joostenberg Vlakte). Fibre cables have been ploughed out of the ground and broken and NapAfrica was offline for a period.

These hurdles, while preventable, are often out of our hands but we have made various investments in an effort to keep any downtime to a minimum. We’ve done so by upgrading the backup power at several highsites, increasing standby time on major backhaul links to between 8hrs and 14hrs and at other sites to between 3hrs and 6hrs.

 

What does this mean?

Well, we’ll be able to keep you up and running even when Eskom drops the ball. We’ve also invested in two portable generators that can be used when required. We understand that interruptions affect your bottom line so we’re constantly working with our service providers to ensure that all the necessary steps are in place to keep these to a minimum.

From a speed perspective, we’re currently negotiating to upgrade our fibre backhaul links, which means that speeds will increase by at least four times between highsites.

 

Looking to 2019, what’s on the horizon for us?

Well, once all of these upgrades are complete, and we’re happy that all the boxes are checked, we will start more system upgrades and improvements to offer you the best possible service we can.
